This project resulted from a two week research residency which I undertook at Coda Space Danse Hallerne in Copenhagen in summer 2012.
I had the pleasure to work with eight dancers from Denmark & Norway on the reasearch of exploring Collective Formations (CF) including theoretical, philosophical, phenomenological, choreographic & performative modes of research.
The performance was a rich & well attended exploration which resulted in two performances, an exhibition of research materials & audience participation at Galerie St Nicolaj.

About:
This was my final Bachelor Choreography. I worked intentionally with people who were not professionally trained in dance.
This work explored Collective Formations.
The relationship of movement that occurs between one and many. Drawing upon the constant dance in social life of unfolding group tendencies and individual pathways.
Individual expression and collective metamorphosis were in moving interplay and constant flux. Relationships formed and dissolved in space constantly, using set choreography as well as score based improvisation where high grades of group awareness were intentional ingredients for performing that what occurs spontaniously also in real life.
Inspired by movement practices within indiginous cultures, folk dances, circle dances, ritual and bird flocking I drew on forms such as lines, circles, flocks, clumps, and other shapes carved the space offering examples of how individuals may come in relation with each other as one collective.

Notes on Choreography:
The choreography is a mix of set movement sequences and open scores. In order for improvisational sequences to work in a performance setting, all performers are asked to perform with the highest grade of attentiveness and awareness of space and each other, as from this ground they can find comfort in the constant transforming marriage between set choreography, open scores, self initiative and sensitive listening.
Moulding:
During the premier of R O N D E, audience members were asked to continuously mould a small piece of material with the idea of moulding without consciously thinking of what it is they are moulding. This allowed possible unexpected shapes to occur and mirrored the process of play through which collective formations have been investigated in theirconstant transformation by choreographer and performers.

This project was a 6 hour durational site specific exploration constructed for performance and film. A culmination of a 3 month research project I conducted with filmmaker Anthony Askew in Istanbul in 2010/2011.
I worked with local turkish dancers, fellow artists from Britain & Austria as well as with filmstudents from the local Beykent University.
The project aimed to explore site via movement and film. The investigation through movement scores was one focus as well as the exploration with still & moving image.
The event could be experienced as durational live performance. It was documented and produced the by-product of still and moving image in form of film and still photography. Which is still used in exhibition contexts.
